StopEsso in Ireland

category national | miscellaneous | news report author Monday November 18, 2002 16:33author by William St. Leger - StopEsso (Ireland)author email stopesso at dublin dot comauthor address 7 Upper Camden St, Dublin 2author phone 01 475 0467 Report this post to the editors

A homegrown StopEsso campaign in now active in Ireland. We want you to join the boycott and get active with upcoming events in your area.
18235_1.JPG

The StopEsso campaign was launched on 8 May 2001 after the US Government rejected the international treaty on global warming, the Kyoto Protocol. No other company has done more then Esso to sabotage Kyoto, misinform US policymakers and confuse the US public.

StopEsso Ireland began in Ireland in July 2001 when Friends of the Earth Ireland taking to Grafton street with Bush and an Esso Tiger. On 18th May this year groups around Ireland picketed Esso stations on StopEsso Day.

Why Esso?
1. Unlike Esso, scientists and governments worldwide agree that burning fossil fuels like oil and gas cause global warming.

2. Esso refuses to invest one dollar of its $15 billion-a-year profits in clean, renewable energy like wind and solar power.

3. Esso has done more than any other company to undermine the Kyoto Protocol, the only international treaty to stop global warming.
