Ecstasy is being hailed as the key to better treatments for the Parkinson's disease, marking a complete turnaround from a few weeks ago when ecstasy was condemned for causing the disease. New animal studies have confirmed anecdotal reports that ecstasy can dramatically curb the uncontrollable arm and leg movements that plague so many people with Parkinson's. First problem is that some people will read the headline and ignore the remaining article, and may decide to pop a few pills.
Another serious issue are experiments on animals.
Many different kinds of experiments take place - painful and lethal diseases are inflicted on animals; animals are still used to test a wide range of substances from food additives to herbicides. While the numbers of animals vivisected has been in gradual decline for several years, an explosion in interest in experiments involving genetic manipulation threatens to reverse this trend.
And, yes Scientist seem to contradict each other all the time.
Is Guinness, Coffee, Chocolate good for me or not.
And as for St. Johns Wort (must get this debate going again)
much "youth drug" focussed research is bad research. The previous John Hopkins Univ research has been completely rubbished, 20% of animals used died from heat stroke.
If people are interested in Ecstasy and the health issues involved in its use they should go to the link provided.
Most research to date has been inconclusive as the subjects chosen have also experienced other drug use patterns.
Whether or not it relieves symptoms, even very limited use of E is thought to CAUSE Parkinsons. Look up the details if you are interested, but you should always be wary of scientific findings like this. DOn't think that it means that E is a good drug to take. Not that I have any big problem with the use of pot...but same goes. It relieves symptoms of cancer, but cronic use can also cause lung cancer.
Remember to always question what you are told.
Cheers.
