Jump To Comment: 1 2 3The bug that's being referred to in this article affected the British penalty points system for a number of years, 'til too many load mouths bragged about it in pubs up and down the land, then a few people who'd availed heavily of the loophole were given heavy (I believe custodial) senntences to illustrate that the problem was remidied and that those who abused the system faced sanctions.
The facts of the Irish system on the other hand are that the computer system does not work at all (€11 million down the drain) and all penalties are being manually processed. The name of the compay doing the processing was in all the papers last week, so if you want to avoid those points you'll have to look it up and make friends with some of their data entry operators.
