Sometimes politicians have to lose to win so the other side can show its true colours. Trump is the standout example, says Prof James Allan. Had he won in 2020, we would not have had the blitz of the last four weeks.

I wish to congratulate Pat Rabbitte on his election as Leader of our Labour Party

category national | miscellaneous | news report author Friday October 25, 2002 21:12author by xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx - Labour Party Report this post to the editors

Congratulations Pat!

I would like to congratulate my new Leader - Deputy Pat Rabbitte - our new and esteemed Leader of the Labour Party. As somebody who knows Pat Rabbitte well from his Democratic Left days, I know that Pat is the person to modernise the Labour Party's outdated policies, and to lead our Labour Party forward to victory. Onward to victory! Speaking as an individual member of Globalise Resistance, I know that Pat had a very good grasp of the anti globalisation issues, and Pat will be able to work very well with Globalise Resistance. Plus having been invloved in my union SIPTU since it's ITGWU predecessor, and having been very proud of it Pat, you are the best person to deal with SIPTU and the rest of the trade unions, and i do know that speaking from personal experience. Again congratulations and good luck Pat, and I wish you many long

Yours gratefully in victory,

Ps. I forgot I haven't heard a chance to hear how the Deputy Leadership race for the Labour Party is going, but I hope that Joan Burton gets it because Joan is the only person for the job.

Yours Gratefully,

Have you ever considered making a date with a shrink xxxx, you really should, you are very much detached from reality. Rabbitte has about the same degree of connection to socialism as George Bush. The DL shower are simply just another bunch of careerist politicans. BTW instead of Burton, why not Aine as deputy leader of the shower?

i would like to congratualte the DL wing of the Labour party. they have, it seems, successfully taken over the leadership of the party. p-p-p-p-proncias is president, mr rabbite is now leader, and if im right Liz will be deputy leader. those stalinist tactics worked a treat boys n girls! i hope you all enjoy your champagne tonite, and for gods sake don't choke on it!

I think that the Labour Party leadership is a joke.

They are no longer a 'Labour' Party, they are not the party of the trade unions, they're the party of the trade union bureaucrats.

Rabbitte is no different to the other candidates in the election. In the election campaing no real differences emerged between candidates. All supported Nice Treaty, all support coalitions with FF and FG.

However I would ask the Labour Party if they are going to expel the DL members? After all they are 'taking over' the labour party, that's something Militant were accused of!!

well well well the triumvirate is now complete. liz is now deputy leader. stalinism alive and well in ireland, yay. bet the CPI are happy! labour hater, the diff between dl and militant is that militant posed a threat to the pro market ideaology of the labour party at the time. dl posed no such threat. labour is dead, long live the real labour alternative!

Pat,

I am delighted that you've done it and in so short a time too. My suggestion worked and it can't be long now before the Borg, sorry the Labour Party, can assimilate Fine Gael too. Think of it Pat! You can be Taoiseach and before any gets a chance to utter the word REZONING.

By the way I'm a bit stuck for cash at the moment. Any chance you could give me back the FIVE THOUSAND and I won't say a word about our deal on CityWest.

Bottoms up!

Frank Dunlop.

I didn't edit the above post but agree with what was done.

Anonymity is important here. An unfortunate side effect of allowing people to be anonymous is that posts can be made under anybody's name. IMC has a responsibility to ensure that the information displayed is accurate. If a post is under someones name, and that person contacts us to state they did not post the article, I believe we have a duty to correct the article. If Frank Dunlop contacted us to say he didn't post the 7th post in this thread then we should remove his name. (or possibly change to 'Not Frank Dunlop').

This happened on the article above.

Amazing what a message from a establishment bastard threatening legal action to do the make our anarcho-censors stick to the bourgeois rules.

Of course they don't mind traducing the Left, but a single word from a millionaire makes em move on the double.

Radical, how are you!
