Two Indian socialists are to speak on "Gujarat and communualism in India" at a public meeting in Belfast.

PUBLIC MEETING ON INDIA

The Belfast Socialist Forum will be holding a meeting this Saturday (26th October) on the subject of “Gujarat and Communalism in India”. Soma Marik and Kunal Chattopadhyay, two socialist activists from the Indian state of West Bengal, will address this meeting. They have written extensively on the issue of communalism, and are involved in ongoing campaigns to oppose it. Soma Marik is also a member of Maitree, a network of women's rights groups, NGOs and individual activists functioning in West Bengal, which highlights the impact of communal violence on the lives of women. In addition to the issue of Gujarat, the meeting will also hear a report on the current situation in Kashmir, which has brought India and Pakistan to the brink of nuclear war. The meeting in Belfast will be the latest in a tour of European cities by Soma and Kunal.

Socialist Forum or marxist forum? I can't keep up any more. Why don't you just use your own name?

the SWP in Belfast call, and always have called them Marxist Forums. Its another group that have started to advertise Socialist Forums. Not very sure who they are, I don't think the're the SP's, the're not the Anarchists,???. I hope this clears things up.

These persons were once people; Peoples Democracy (PD)that is. Irish section of the United Secretariat of the Fourth International (USFI). Also fondly known as Mandelites, after their long time leader, Ernest Mandel.

If you were a Lambertist or Healyite yopu would have called them Pabloites, a deadly insult. (It gets too complicated don't ask)

Instead of the State withering away, PD did. For a while it became the Irish Marxist Discussion Circle (or square or rhomboid, forget which)

Then in a wonderful chrysalis: Socialist Democracy was born. Who may now just be calling themselves: Socialist Forum.

Ah well, at least I tried to explain it.
