 RTE have a legal obligation to give 50% of time on flagship news programmes and current affairs programmes to each side of the Nice Debate. The Green Party have been harassing them to stick to this but there is some concern that it is not being enforced rigourously by RTE. The groups campaigning for a Yes obviously have backup in the form of statistical monitoring of this. The No Groups have not. A few IMCers are trying to get a small group of people together to do day by day monitoring and breakdown of this stuff - people who have free time, VCRs, Cassette Radios and fast internet connections and are interested in helping with this please get in touch as soon as possible at [email protected]. All this stuff is archived on the web so work can potentially be done at any time of the day. The results would be distributed to groups campaigning for a No Vote on a daily basis and if we - for instance - find that on a particular day the NO side got 40% of coverage - the No Campaign Group can use this ammo to make sure they get 60% the next day. |
