Just to clarify Conor's story (I think he got a bit excited while telling it). Charlie McCreevy was booked to open the new Arts Annex/ Archive building on Belfield campus. However seeing as McCreevy wasnt going to get the best reception they sent out Brian Lenihan insted. The C.F.E. (Campaign for Free Education) quickly called a protest and around 35 - 40 students turned up. The protest was going well and one of the garda present expressed support for what we were doing. However more garda arrived and upon the arrival of Lenihan the students rushed into the porch of the building and began a blockade. The cops then started wading through us and dragging people clear so Lenihan could enter. This lasted for maybe 10 -15 mins and Lenihan finally made it through. However the ceremony was due to take place in the reception area which fortunatly has floor to ceiling windows. We then started hammering on the windows with keys coins etc, shouting a lot and generally making as much noise as possible. After 20 mins of this the ceremony was postponed and Lenihan retreated further into the building...

And so the acedemic year begins....
