growing network

networks are the systems which allow us to communicate. Talk, post, Telephone, internet and email, mobile phone, etc
I am trying to find out what networks have been created after ecotopia. There was talk of both real and virtual systems being set up and im not sure what has been done and what are people developing at the moment. I definitely feel that there is a need for a very strong network for us to communicate, both in physical meetings and also in the virtual world; websites, online forums, chat zones etc.

real
Leinster has agreed on a time and place every month where people interested in sustainable, social, political, economical systems can meet up. What have the other provinces agreed on? We feel its easier for people “outside” to appraoch and get involved this way

Virtual
As far as I can tell there are 3 main websites; www.sustainable.ie , www.ecotopia2002.org , www.indymedia.ie

www.sustainable.ie sends out a monthly newsletter via email, informing people of events coming up, the website has a resources section with only a few articles written. Articles are sent in to the site and they choose to put them up if they are good enough. There is no open communication area for online forum on the site

www.ecotopia2002.org , is the website which was set up before ectopia, it informed people on how to get to ecotopia and what was going to go on. It also had a brief history etc. nothing further has gone onto this site. I feel there should be more things there;

- archive, a record of all events that went on, articles from newspapers, photos and film archive. Some written articels from ecotpians etc
- list of all campaigns and links to their sites
- list of all workshops with an open area for further discussion
- open forum, an open area for the free and open discussion about all things

I feel an organized area like this is very much needed for people to find out whats on, whats going on and to communicate when ever they feel like it. Anyone can access it, ideas flow, anyone can get involved. That’s the idea

www.indymedia.ie is the irish independent media centre. It is part of the international independent media centre, http://www.indymedia.org which was set up to archive all info about protest, an open system, a place to post up news as it happens. It has become very prominent since seattle in 1999. The images of police brutality after the last “recalaim the streets” came nearly all from indymedia journalists.

I am involved with developing communication systems. Ones that have a virtual interface but also work on the real face to face meetings and events of humans coming together to do things. I am presently developing an art based system which will work on the global level, both via website and in events in art galleries worldwide running at the same time, if any one is interested in this check out, www.mmmarcel.org

other stuff

I am looking for telephone numbers for annette and paul, who gave the “theatre of the oppressed” workshop at ecotopia
I want to meet up with people who are advertising “RTS” via stickers and posters to discuss communication systems
I would like to hear from people who are interested in developing street theatre in dublin, esp pre next sat

Can someone confirm for me if Crit mass is happening on sun 22, what time?

“postcard of planet earth from space, a gift to bertie ahern” on or around RTS, us as a concerned group of environmentalists etc giving him a pic of his home in the hope that he listens to us more
an event to further raise publis awareness

when are the next W.T.O meetings happening and where

global network community
using art to inform
using art to challenge

the revolution is on, here and now

the world view of humans is changing from the old mechanistic to the new systems, dynamic, network one

our perception of ourselves, our home and how we deal with each other is profoundly changing

1960`s we developed the image of planet earth from space, we saw our home. We are dealing with this

that’s it.

I know its long, sorry. I am trying to get this stuff sorted. Any response is welcome
Thanks to those interested and interesting
