Blueshirt leader shows true colours

news report
Sunday September 08, 2002 02:07 by Douglas Frederick
The use of the racist "N" word by Enda Kenny leader of the Fine Gael party recalls the Fascist origins of this political party. The use of such a derogatory term heightens racial tension at a time when people have been beaten to death on Ireland's streets because of the colour of their skin. That RTE complied with Kenny's request and refused to report the story puts into serious doubt the national broadcasting entity's professionalism. If Kenny continues as leader it means that Fine Gael is being true to its Fascist origins and should be treated as a pariah.

could it possibly be that you are one of bbs multiple personalities.
i am a bit peeved that you found me out though.
look, money is short & i had to make a bit on the side, so i just work for the psni at the weekend.
the new uniform is nice & the hat may look funny to you but the rest of the lads in the psni think its cool.
anyway, they let me bash the loyalists so its good fun.
yes yur over 6ft tall, and you wear a lovely green uniform, with a big PSNI badge on it, and you strut about like john wayne, showing off yur guns and batons, swinging yur hips, like you were the oldest swinger in town, you also wear a funny hat to cover yur bald patch.
i agree wholeheartedly with david - "in fairness...". this story was blown up by a newspaper, if you could even call it that, that itself is a racist, right-wing populist government propaganda rag. mr. o'reilly and his footsoilders like eoghan "the bitter little man" harris, and brendan "i'm a celebrity, i drink in lillies" o' connor has been running a pro-government anti-traveller, anti-refugee/immigrant, anti-left-wing, and anti-anyone else who happens to get in the way of their neo-liberal vision, campagin for a long time now. this has included unflinching support for the government during the election and during recent referenda, especially the nice referendum. it uses tactics of slander, petty insults, scaremongering and veiled threats. sound like someone else. yes you've guessed it - bertie, mary and their so-called government. unfortunately one third of the population buys this muck-raking rag every sunday. this i suggest has more to do with the prevailing attitudes present in modern day ireland than anything else. i am not making excuses for kenny the blueshirt either, i have to say, catagorically (he was probably just had a brief flashback to the days in the 30’s "when the bishops blessed the blueshirts in dun laoghire, as they sailed beneath the swastika to spain". They’ve moved on from then I’m sure, just an unfortunate blast from the past. however he is not the first to come out with such remarks, and he has apologised unreservedly on three seperate occasions. i don't honestly believe the man is a facist and therefore while not condoning what he said, i am prepared to forgive him for his mistake. let us not forget, a certain member of the government made far more insulting and racist comments last year, and he meant them too. was it on the front page of the sunday indo? what do you think? self-righteous and sanctimonious hysteria calling for resignations and what not are playing right into mr. o'reilly's masterplan. can't you see, he's fooled you again. and unless some of you WAKE UP! tony and bertie will fool you again and again and again! sure why not, it's like shooting fish in a barrell! And anyway what the fuck are you doing reading that pile of shite for anyway, you’re just lining the bastard’s pockets!
babs
i think you may have me mixed up with someone else.
1. I'm not from Newtonards.
2. I'm not a midget. (hmm, that might explain all those little man comments from the southern loyalists. & the quickness of the scum to make threats.)
quite a few on indymedia eg ray, andrew, chekov etc can confirm that i'm over 6ft tall.
as you seem to be overly confused in your ramblings, i thought the above might help. however, i fear only a long course of medication & counselling would really have any effect on you.
if you were capable of understanding plain english then you would have gathered from my posting that i'm opposed to kennys racist joke but don't believe he is a fascist.
i really can't make head nor tail of the rest of your stream of consciousness(?).
so its ok, to tell racist jokes, but not anti yuppie new age traveller jokes. i'm gonna knock yur bollix in next time i see you patc, dirty newtonards midget. i think its ok to tell anti new age traveller jokes, cos they are mainly middle class spoilt rich hippie kids slumming it, in rural ireland. it's not ok to tell anti-real traveller jokes though.

kenny is an ignoramus, but lets have a sense of proportion; someone is not a fascist because they tell a racist joke.
there are far more serious examples of bog fascism emerging via both fg & ff councillors anti traveller comments & the publicans barring of travellers from pubs.
Cant you see something more sinister at work here....A full front page article in the biggest sunday newspaper attacking the leader of the opposition...could it be that Tony O'Reilly (owner of most of Ireland's media) is giving a hand to his favourite politician - Bertie?
Some things are more important than a stupid comment that Mr. Kenny apoligised 3 times about already....nobody's perfect,
David
Yeah I read that in a sunday newspaper.
What surprised me more was that the newspaper gave two damning articles about asylum seekers and Refugees which can only be described as racist. They referred to asylum seekers as "swamping" the country or something along those lines. I wont mention the newspaper.
The fact that RTÉ kept this underwraps raises serious questions about its national duty, furthermore the incident shows the double standards of the leadership of Political establishment which as we've seen publically slams racism but privately indulges in it.
I certainly hope that Edna Kenny realises the pure ignorance of his comment/joke and makes a public apology at the least
Could you give us some more info. on this, also is this not the same bloke who said in Mayo (after having just left Dublin) that 'this is the real Ireland, there is no drugs or joyriding here'.
