Please pass the word around, spread the word widely and participate in the HOMELESS PERSONS MARCH taking place on Friday 13TH September at 3pm at the Garden of Remberance to the Dail. After participating in a fairly successful Anti-bin tax protest outside City Hall last night I was walking through town when I met a number of homeless people handing out leaflets publicising a HOMELESS PERSONS MARCH on Friday 13TH September that the HOMELESS PEOPLE THEMSELVES ARE ORGANISING. The HOMELESS PERSONS MARCH takes place on Friday 13TH September at 3pm at the Garden of Remberance to the Dail. One of the homeless guys who I was talking to last night told me that he was Luke Kelly's (formerly of The Dubliners) son. On the one hand it's great to see the homeless people organising their own March and not letting other people or organisations March on their behalf without involving them. On the other hand it is a bloody disgrace to see so many homeless people sleeping rough on our streets and the Government not doing anything about it because the homeless have no voice and because they basically believe that homelessness is entirely the homeless person's fault. |

Jump To Comment: 1 2The homeless are as much a product of the Irish economic system as the capitalist gangsters with off-shore bank accounts. The homeless are an ever-present reminder to others in the working class that they are a few paydays away from the same fate. Thus the effect of homeless is to keep the working class docile. The homeless are an essential ingredient of capitalist economic policy, and their protest should be supported strongly.
Having been homeless myself, I hope this really is hopeless people organising this march, and not fat cat organisations funded by bertie boy to work 'on behalf of the homeless' There is already enough people getting big salaries on the backs of the homeless.
