Repost of previous article SWP leaflet on Nice not bad but does not mention issues of concern to young people such as napster I read the SWP factsheet on the Nice referendum from a link on this newswire and was pleasently suprised to see that it was much better than I had expected it to be. It contained much less swp type jargon also than I had feared. But before I get slagged off by the indymedia masses or get taken off the wire! I have to point out its limitations also. Among the issues of concen to me and other young people was no mention of the heavy handed response of the US/EU to Napster and more recently to many of the clones of Napster and against peer to peer mp3 music trading generally. add your comments
This is a comment on an article, not an original article. Go to one of the articles that mentions the SWP anti-Nice factsheet, and use the 'add comments' feature.
napster is dead end of story it sold out to all the big record labels, but who gives a shit the great thing about the net is open source projects. just download kazaa lite a hacked version of kazaa which has all the spyware left out and is much better than kazaa original or even napster. you can get it at http://www.kazaalite.com/ btw this isnt a major issue of concern when there are young children in the subcontinent sewing nike football's and hunting rats to keep there families alive is it?
Ray, you are doing a great job in general but you are turing into 'the general' - calm it down for fecks sake!!! or change your tune - but otherwise GOOD STUFF....
I feel the crackdown on Napster and the like is very important and highly relevant to anti-capitalist causes. It raises the issue of commodity/common resource control and music is yet another thing they've tried to steal control of. We should all support the likes of Napster and it's successors and they are part of the reclaiming movement - reclaiming our streets, our communities, our souls and our music! "ONE GOOD THING ABOUT MUSIC IS THAT WHEN IT HITS YOU, YOU FEEL ALRIGHT!" this post further shows how dumb this site has become because it is just a place to bash the SWP. love them or hate them, it seems that all people do here is beat on the SWP. who cares? |

In fact you dont read that well either as none of the above posts was 'just slagging off the swp' Personally I neither love them or hate them, but I wont pretend they are perfect and make no mistakes as you seem to be doing, or do you just want Ray to censor anything even slightly critical?,on the grounds that it belongs somewhere else (far Away)
And yes Napster is important also, as is the subcontinent, its not a case of either or!
Not everyone has goldfish like attention spans of 30 seconds, and some us can even multitask, or be concerned about 2 issues.
In fairness to the SWP or anyother left group writing a leaflet on Nice, you cannot include every bit of corporatisation on a leaflet.
The Nice Treaty is essentially a privatisation treaty. The real agenda behind Nice is to give the larger countries more power, while Eastern Europe's state owned industries will be privatised in the interests of capitalism. A deepening of the restoration of capitalism that has occured since the downfall of the Deformed Workers' states.
The corporatisation of music is a part of the 'corporatisation' agenda of capitalism, but you simply cannot put everything down on a leaflet, publication, website etc.
Of course the writer above is correct to say that the corporatisation of music is a part of the 'corporatisation' agenda of capitalism. And while not all issues will get discussed during the referendum a lot of people (mainly young) will not vote and we should examine why they dont feel the issues that are discussed are not of sufficient interest to them. Perhaps new issues such as the one above, do need to be discussed more.
Articles on the newswire should NOT be reposted - its a clear breach of editorial guidelines.
WHO BREACHES WHO? It seems the IMC team breach where they want...
I believe this was reposted because it was mysteriously removed by some transparent, accountable anarchist who didn't like it.
I think they have banned the crazy guy calling himself spartacus. It is a good idea to keep copies of your articles in case they are purged, so that you can them repost them.
So they can be deleted again?
Post stuff for no other reason than to create work for the indymedia editors?
That shows a lot of respect for the site, and the work people have put into it, don't you think?
