War in Euskal Herria

category national | miscellaneous | news report author Tuesday August 27, 2002 01:22author by Sergi Pikate Report this post to the editors

Batasuna, the independentist and socialist basque party, has been declared ilegal

The Spanish Governement and Garzon judge have declared out of the law Batasuna, the basque independentist and socialist organization. The majority of the Spanish Parlament, which approve the new 'Party Act' one month ago, have voted against Batasuna, the third political force in Euskal Herria. The Spanish police is begining to close all the offices and cultural centres relationed with Batasuna and the left movements in EH. We still don't know the consequences of this kind of represion against the independentist organizations. We still don't know what is going to be the answer of Batasuna. And still worse, we don't know the answer of ETA.

A political party is made illegal. The only expression left to those holding their beliefs is violent resistance. Talks are cancelled, media is censored.

And 'probably' says ETA will kill more innocent people.

I don't get this argument? in fact i don't even see an argument here - just a soundbite. Batasuna is currently undergoing the same type of repression that was so effective in bringing peace to Norn ireland. Oh yeah, i forgot - that was a pigheaded Thatcherite policy that resulted in 10 more years of war.

What about the hundreds of millions of human beings that the spanish conquisadores wiped out? Thats more than Trotsky, Stalin, Pol Pot or Hitler combined managed to murder. Its even more than the american government has achieved (so far)

'We still don't know the consequences of this kind of represion against the independentist organizations.'

The consequences will probably be that the Batasuna/ETA will kill more innocent people.

What's so damned 'revolutionary' about that?
