Many Irish people will have missed the pomp & ceremony, smells and bells which launched Europe's latest lowcost airline on ¨Monday. Despite its obvious competition with two of our most cherished little earners & institutions. The Holy See is offering cheap flights from Rome to Lourdes which I need not tell you will surely undermine both Ryanair and Knock. The Vatican is promoting the service as an opportunity for the faithful to maintain a proper atmosphere conducive to such religious devotion and prevent their journey falling into some Chaucer like tale. Needless to say unlike Ryanair they won't be charging wheelchair users any extra money either. But already it has run into TERROR problems. read on & learn - ... read full story / add a comment

There has been a plethora of stories and images on this newswire in recent months of the suppression of Republican Political Dissent, the groups range from branches of the IRSP, through Eirigi and the re-opening of the Roisin Mc Aliskey extradition case by German Authorities. This letter gives an update on the continued oppression being inflicted on Iranian workers by the Iranian Dictatorship. It outlines why continued silidarity is necessary. Full text at link. Your August 9th international day of action was hugely welcomed and appreciated. Even if this has not yet led to the release of Mansoor Ossanlou and Mahmoud Salehi, it was a unique show of solidarity with workers and labour activists in Iran who are under constant persecution by the regime. I’m sure you are aware that in the past few months the Islamic regime in Iran has stepped up its persecution of protesting workers, women and students. The current wave of repression and executions is specifically targeting the widespread protests and strikes and the general anti-government climate in the country. This an excerpt from a letter sent to Amnesty International, Human Rights Organizations and Student Associations and Groups regarding the illtreatment of students held in Iranian prisons. Full text of letter at the link. I am writing to you regarding the imprisoned students of Amirkabir University in Tehran. The Islamic Republic of Iran has launched a new wave of barbaric oppression in universities. Many students have been banned from studying; many others have been arrested and tortured. Three students of Amirkabir University, Majid Tavakoli, Ahmad Qassaban, and Ehsan Mansouri, have been accused of writing and distributing articles against Islamic Republic authorities and against Islam and they have been arrested. In this very interesting report from Montreal Canada, we get a glimpse at some of the undercover activities of the state and police forces which are there to protect capitalism. What is reported is that an undercover cop was caught on video throwing rocks at a protest. Clearly the state and police are working hard all the time to manipulate public opinion to believe that protesters always mean violence and are associated with criminals. With a clear lead it seems the Irish Military have won the latest "who sucks" site opinion poll which invited internet users to compare 23 Armed forces logos from across the world. http://www.who-sucks.com/politics/17-fearsome-defense-m...world And a quick look at the who sucks site will tell you why.
