Kabul is the capital of Afghanistan. the USA have over 16,000 troops there, under two commands, (one looks for Osama and the other is part of a build Afghani identity force) but the stability and contra-narcotraffic operations of the World community are in the hands of the ISAF force, and the majority are €uropean. Young people are very upset, there because they are muslim, and reports have reached them that US interrogators on an island off of Cuba, have desecrated a Koran. US interrogators are not muslim. Cuba isn't muslim either. This is thus a story of Globalisation. ... read full story / add a comment

During a book presentation, policemen-bodyguards of PASOK's ex-ministers Verelis and Venizelos, were armed within the premises of the Athens Polytechnic School (NTUA) campus at downtown Athens. (This constitutes a violation of Academic Asylum laws, valid in Greece since the collapse of the military colonels' junta in 1974, mainly propelled by student uprising in November 1973 in the same campus.) ... read full story / add a comment

As you no doubt all now know, 60 years ago, the big war ended, when we the peoples of Eire were in the emergency, because we didn't know which was worse liberal imperialism or nazi-ism or bolshevism and if neutrality had worked for Franco and the Swiss, it might work for us too. And on the 8th of May it ended in Europe. Well it had sort of ended before that, but the official ending was the 8th and the Russians held off making official announcements till the 9th. How did it really end? You may ask. ... read full story / add a comment

"A new criminal justice bill is currently being pushed through the Dáil by the Minister for Justice, Michael McDowell. There are a WHOLE raft of measures in the legislation that have the potential to seriously infringe on civil liberties. However, there are two specific areas we feel need to be highlighted, in that they are targeted at young people. These are the introduction of On The Spot Fines and Anti Social Behaviour orders. It is our belief that the introduction of these provisions will dramatically impact on Irish people's civil liberties. That's why we've joined forces with the Union of Students in Ireland and are launching an online petition opposing the introduction of On The Spot Fines and Anti Social Behaviour Orders in Ireland." Please go to http://www.hotpress.com/petitions/ to sign the petition. ... read full story / add a comment
