The conviction of Michael McKevitt was far from the finest hour of our judicial system. The latest revelations leaves no doubt that he was unfairly tried and convicted through the pages of the print media long before he appeared in Court. I have just heard that the American Humane Association has awarded a "Humane award" to a 900-cow factory farm because they slaughter cows with compassion. Despite the fact that each birthed calf is separated from her mother, they rationalize by calling themselves humane. Despite the fact that each and every one of their cows ends up hanging upside down with her throat cut in a slaughterhouse, they now call themselves humane.
