Joan burton minister for social protection has set up what has been called a new carrot and stick approach to the unemployed masses of ireland. The carrot is not suffficient ,and either is the stick for that matter, the carrot being jobbridge, and the stick being that social welfare can withhold your welfare for up to 63 days, and having the powers to reduce your social welfare payment..As far as i can see there is no new thinking on how to approach those who have lost their jobs,or are not adequately qualified or experienced to take up jobs.. Jobridge has been uncovered as a scam,to bolster up employers staff without expense, and can re-hire more job bridge workers as they please.Where is the incentive to employ people, take on paid work when job bridge is in the way of that. What employer is going to pay people to work when job bridge is for free? It is clear the government have not thought this through properly for whatever reason. Below is an article on this issue by Tom Boland. read full story / add a comment

My favourite people, are often called prostitutes and whookers, which seriously worries me. Am I one as well ? Is that why I copy and paste so much, hoping there are plenty of socialists out there? Anyway the best whookers in the world come from Galway, when you climb into them, they are the best ride in the world. read full story / add a comment

A report this Thursday will reveal MI5, the FBI in the USA, and special branch in the Irish State in the south, "starved" paramilitary police in British Occupied Ireland, of vital intelligence, that would have prevented a massacre, in which twenty-nine people died after a 500lb bomb exploded in the middle of Omagh..The victims families commissioned a private report by a London law firm, the SBP, which included experts, who obtained sensitive intelligence, demonstrating major failings by all the Police forces, before the attack, which caused the massacre. read full story / add a comment

FIVE YEARS after the onset of economic crisis, the policy of bank bail-outs and austerity is a disastrous failure. Unemployment remains at crisis levels and tens of thousands of educated young people leave the country every year. Over 180,000 people are unable to pay their mortgages; poverty and homelessness are on the rise; and workers’ pay, conditions and rights are under serious attack . Vulnerable groups such as those with disabilities, mental health issues, special needs or lone parents are repeatedly attacked. Our health, education and public services are being cut to ribbons. We need to come together to co-ordinate resistance to further cuts and austerity taxes in the forthcoming budget. read full story / add a comment

The proof that Britain's Secret Services MI5 in British Occupied ireland, are hell bent on undermining the Irish Peace Process, can be found in the contrasting treatment of Orange Order Loyalist Stephen Irwin, perpetrator of the Greysteel Massacre and the internment without charge or trial of traditional irish Republican, Martin Corey. If the Irish Peace Process works, MI5 will be out of their multi-million pound, State of the Art Palace Barracks in Holywood, County Down, minus their multi million pound budget, the prize of their turf wars with competing Secret Service MI6. read full story / add a comment

Internment. No charge. No trial. This has been the reality in Ireland, for every generation, North and South, since the foundation of both scum states. Despite a nominal Peace Process, internment without charge or trial, still exists in one form or another today in both parts of Ireland. Clearly therefore, there is something very dysfunctional in the neo-colonial political arrangement. read full story / add a comment

The detention of David Miranda, partner of Glenn Greenwald, a Guardian journalist, at London’s Heathrow airport, coupled with death threats relayed by agents aligned with Britain's secret services, to an Irish Human Rights activist and journalist, covering the internment of Martin Corey in British Occupied Ireland, marks a new low in Britain's brutish abuse of Human Rights. read full story / add a comment

This article by the Revolutionary Socialists of Egypt is directed to their supporters, explaining in detail the principled stance they have taken. No to the Military Junta and No to Morsi and the Muslim Brotherhood. Full text at link. Terrible massacres and violent repression, a huge escalation in attacks on Egyptian Christians and churches, the consolidation of the repressive military state continues apace. These are the momentous political developments we have experienced during the last few weeks. They pose enormous challenges to the revolution, but they also contain opportunities toprepare for the coming waves of the revolution, which the Revolutionary Socialists can use effectively to build the movement, provided that we develop tactics capable of dealing with changing circumstances. read full story / add a comment

The anti-internment march in Belfast on 9th August 2013, was a welcome display of disciplined unity, against a most serious abuse of human rights, that the establishment parties in Ireland, either wish to ignore or damn with feint protest, while at the same time professing to be democrats, socialists or republicans. Up to 10,000 marchers stewarded by a variety of Irish Republican Socialists, Republicans and human rights organisations, marched from Ardoyne in the north of Belfast, until they they were stopped for approximately 2 hours by PSNI jeeps and thousands of fascist, rioting UVF and Orange Order members near the city centre. read full story / add a comment

Last night, and over the last number of months, I have been mezsmerized, watching the British PSNI paramilitary police operate in Belfast. They did a good job in very difficult circumstances. It is not easy for me to admit that but credit where credit is due, they did a good job.Now I will make a lot of enemies, by saying that. I understand that!. Some people will accuse me of being a traitor and a Tout for saying that. They would be wrong. I have put my life on the line, as a matter of principle on this. I am no angel but that is a fact. read full story / add a comment
