A psychedelic cult known as 'The Ultimate Comment' is hosting a public party on the LUAS to celebrate its feast day, Christmas 2. The party will take place on the LUAS as it travels along the green line from Stephen's Green to Sandymount and will start at 12 noon on the 2nd of January. Adherents aim to find The Secret Of The Universe (also known as The Ultimate Comment) through the science of Metacommentology and the worship of the Eight Gods: The Dimensional Transfunctioner, General Miaow, Triangulon, The Holy Spoon, The Reality Fish, Thomas The Walking Head, A Magical Trumpet Called Bill and The DXM Angel. They claim to have already discovered 7 of the eight components of The Ultimate Comment. read full story / add a comment

Right-wing nations are now utilising their new ‘anti-terrorist’ laws. Activists are being targeted and arrested in the US and Australia – who is next? The following information may prove useful in the event of arrest. A ‘friend of mine’ was recently detained for questioning by state police; his experiences were similar to those of others in the milieux. Fine Gael has called on the Government to introduce a five point plan to cut A&E attendances by up to a 1/3. The plan which includes penalizing people who attend A&E units and also happen to be drunk, may put lives at risk.

The proposals ignore the fact that the vast majority of those attending A&E units are actually in need medical aid and further that the majority of those in attendance never cause any disturbance to staff or fellow patients.

One of the key planks of the policy calls for the doubling of A&E fees for those found to be under the influence of alcohol. The proposed fee of almost €100 will discourage people who may need medical aid from seeking it and will hit those on low incomes hardest, students in particular. read full story / add a comment
