What was once a joke, is increasingly true, one doesn't need to count the ink thumbs, or even trust the polls, all you need to ask is - "who is the current government and do the west like them?" The next meeting of the Get Up Stand Up campaign takes place on Saturday 17th September at 12noon in the WSM offices, Merrion Row, Dublin 2. the purpose of thje meeting is to discuss re-starting the campaign after the summer, extending the leafletting network and building links with groups of non-unionised workers. Does inequality of wealth really matter?, Richard Wilkinson Professor of sociology, has been researching and gathering evidence of the damage done by extreme inequality between the rich and the poor. As in todays society as the rich get richer, whilst the poor get even poorer. Despite however rich a country is, that country will be more dysfunctional, violent, sick and depressed if the wealth gap between the social classes grows too wide. read full story / add a comment |
