Monday, 25 April 2005 Author - Oz.unslaver.com A Central Queensland family wonders at the priorities of a local high school after their child collapsed on parade. While the family was subjected to a two week period of imtimidation by the School administration at the start of the year over uniform breaches, they wait to be informed of their childs fainting fit some five days after the event. In Febuary this year, the child and the parents were informed that it would be unacceptable for the child to attend school wearing basic black shorts rather than the regular uniform royal blue. The child was threatened with disciplinary action for refusing to wear school supplied clothing and had been forced to sit out a lesson because of the uniform breach. read full story / add a comment

Looks like there are two (loosely speaking) May Day events, one organised by Labour Party, the other co-ordinated by Green councillor, Niall O Brolchain. This is how the sponsors are promoting their events (i) LABOUR'S MAY DAY: May Day commemorates past struggles to gain basic rights. In the present it emphasises the need for solidarity. May Day was first celebrated in Galway in 1919 and the Labour Party continues this tradition. This year the event will be celebrated at the Westwood House Hotel in Newcastle. The night will include a Race Night & Social. Emmet Stagg will be a special guest and Michael D. Higgins will be there, as will Mayor Catherine Connolly and councillors (ii) MAY DAY SPEAKER'S CORNER Speakers Corner in Galway will take place at 2.30pm on Sunday 1st May. The theme for this month will be Social Issues but in line with the philosophy of Speakers Corner, all topics may be spoken about. Join in at 2.30pm outside St. Nicholas church read full story / add a comment
