Background: The Free Aceh Movement (GAM) has been fighting for independence in the oil- and gas-rich Aceh province of Indonesia since 1976. Thousands of innocent civilians have died in the intervening years, many of them killed by Indonesian soldiers and paramilitaries hired by local and Western oil firms to protect their pipelines and factories in Aceh. In May, under the guise of Bush's "war on terror", the Indonesian military launched an offensive against the GAM, its largest operation since the brutal 1975 invasion of East Timor, which was supported by US President Gerald Ford and his war criminal sidekick, Henry Kissinger. The Aceh offensive has been all but ignored by the Western media... read full story / add a comment

Nuair a bhí na Palaistínigh óga anseo anuraidh chothaigh siad go leor poiblíocht agus go leor suim agus dlúththacaíocht don Phalaistín. Thosaigh go leor daoine, mé féin san áireamh, ag smaointeamh ar chuairt a thabhairt ar thír Hanine, Mohammed, Maisa' agus chun dlúththacaíocht a léiriú agus chun cuidiú praicticiúil a thabhairt do na Palaistínigh. read full story / add a comment

dublin / bin tax / household tax / water tax / press release Tuesday July 08, 2003 00:22 by Still Not Paying   text 9 comments (last - thursday july 10, 2003 11:14)
Bertie Ahern, and sidekick Royston Brady (the new Lord Mayor), will be opening the redeveloped park on the corner of Gardiner Street and Sean McDermot Street on Friday (11th).

This is the same Bertie whose pals have just passed a law allowing Councils to stop collecting rubbish from the 70% in Dublin who are boycotting the double tax.

If he thinks he'll get away with it, he can think again. Plans are already being put together for peaceful but effective direct action to ensure that they have to pick up all our bins.

If they need more cash let them go after their millionaire stud farm friends - instead of trying to make ordinary people pay twice for the same service.

Protesters are gathering at 1.30pm. Come along and give Bertie an earful.
