The overwhelming majority of migrant workers within the EU who were not born in the EU have passed through these countries. Thereafter the majority have come by land routes to the east or by air to Heathrow London. read full story / add a comment

Organised by Cork Environmental Forum. 11am – 1pm Bike Doctor, Emmet Place (outside Opera House) – get your bike checked out / basic repairs done for free, or just hang out with the lovely folk of the Cork Cycling Campaign, and watch the skateboarders. 6pm Critical Mass assemble Daunt Square … plus doubtless other stuff I didn’t know about. Please note, personally I’m involved in the Bike Doctor only. Just passing on the news re the other two events. I’ll be supporting them alright, just don’t ask me any questions about them. read full story / add a comment

The third annual Diversity Day festival happened yesterday at Bishop Lucey Park (aka ‘the peace park’) in Cork yesterday, the 19th of September, and was widely acclaimed as a success. There was a wide variety of acts and exhibitors, and a crowd in the hundreds lapped up the entrtainment and informative stalls provided free of charge by the participants. There were hassles with insurance and with the access to the park, but all in all it was a successful third festival. Here's hoping that Diversity Day will continue to flourish long into the future! read full story / add a comment

The Blanket update includes, Davy Carlin on NIPSA Dispute, Mackers on Scargill, Mc Cann on Pat Finucane case , O Comain on Ulster Britishness, and Laim O Ruairc, on Waste. That meeting on Scargill was very well attended and I believe Mackers gives a fair report of it although he has a dig at the SWP. Worth a read, as are the other items, I also think that the satire and pictures are getting better over time, but thats just my opinion. Keep it up! read full story / add a comment
