Santry Anti bin tax Campaign Yesterday, Sunday, the 23rd, the newly formed Santry Anti bin tax Campaign with assistance of Anti bin tax activists from Finglas, Navan Road/Dunard Road/Cabra and Ballybough disrupted Taoiseach Ahern as he was speaking at the launch of the Saint Vincent De Paul's annual "Giving At Christmas" appeal in the Omni Park shopping centre, Santry. Sorry we didn't release any info about this beforehand, but if Ahern had have found out about our protest he would have cancelled his engagement like he has done 3 times in the last month. read full story / add a comment

Rebuilding the Republican Socialist Alternative "Let us look to a higher motive than praise or profit - to promot truth and labour together, as Irishmen, bound by love of country, which is far higher and stronger tie than any human obligation." - Jemmy Hope The Irish Republican Socialist Party (IRSP) will be using this week's election to signal our call for republican socialist politics to be put at the heart of the Irish political agenda. read full story / add a comment

Just so you know, the 2002 Anti-Trespass Act has been used by Cork City Council to convict members of two Traveller families in Cork District Court. Michael Faulkner and Kathleen Delaney were both sentenced to a month in prison, suspended for two years and one year respectively. This raises a constitutional concern regarding basic human rights to shelter and liberty, both of which are threatened by this bizarre anomaly in legislation. read full story / add a comment

The BB2 programme currently screening is a tired rehash, reinforcement of the Warren Commission's findings. The programme promised to use up to date computer graphics to analyse the Zepruder film in depth, but failed to show or explain the Zepruder film in its entirety. Failing to explain the moment the president's head is hit from in front, causing a massive exit wound at the back of the Presidents' head, which effectively blows off the back of the president's scalp. read full story / add a comment

no event in particular actually planned on my part - other than leafletting and possible banner drop - but just wanted to let everyone know, in case they weren't already aware, that this Friday/Saturday the 28/29th is international Buy Nothing Day (some dispute, US celebrates 28th, rest of the world 29th). challenge our consumer-driven society; free ourselves from corporate rule; and highlight the abuses, exploits, and general wrong-doings of some of this country's and the world's most prominent and arrogant brands and multi-nationals. encourage people to stop and think rather than just shop and consume... so i guess the event is essentially the day itself. there's some great ideas on adbusters.org and lots more links out there. so stop shopping and encourage and appeal to others to do the same. and if anyone actually does organise anything, or has anything planned, let us know. cheers read full story / add a comment

A view as to why Dubliners should support our current transport service. From my ongoing research into people's opinions of Dublin Bus, I have found that the vast majority of people do not realise the implications and changes that privatisation will bring. The introduction of the private sector into the public transport sector will not improve the commuters long term interests but will destroy a company that has developed into a profitable and publicly orientated transport service set in the interests of all the people.People say " bring on the private operators but they fail to realise that this ill thought opinion will bring with it, higher fare prices, less frequent service on non-profitable routes and the cancelling of routes that make no sense from a business aspect to maintain in use. read full story / add a comment
