And so, without any level of legal justification, any pretence of popular support, and any sense of moral decency, the U.S. and its ever so ‘minor partner’, the U.K., have taken it upon themselves to escalate hostilities against Iraq; hostilities which have continued in the form of daily aerial attacks and murderous sanctions since the last days of Gulf War I. The fact that 42% of Iraq’s population are children is of no apparent interest to the hawks in the Whitehouse and Downing Street. read full story / add a comment

Coincidence or what! Friday: Someone bombs a market in Baghdad, 55 dead civilians. Iraqi TV shows the images. Friday night: US bombs Iraqi tv station, maybe it's a coincidence, maybe its to stop the images of civilian dead being shown. No more images of dead civilains on Iraqi tv. It will not stop the deaths, but hides them Sure, it's a war for democracy, we'll all be free to be killed. read full story / add a comment

national / miscellaneous / news report Friday March 28, 2003 18:56 by War Resisters' International   text 1 comment (last - saturday march 29, 2003 12:24)
One month ago, War Resisters' International put out a call for nonviolent action at military bases on 5/6 April 2003. In many countries groups are planning actions - in Britain, from where the idea originates, actions are planned at 11 military bases (see http://www.reclaimthebases.org.uk for details). Actions will also happen at the Spinelli barracks in Mannheim, Germany, at some military base in Turkey, at a base in Japan, and probably at many other places. Please let us know soon what you are planning. It is important that the WRI office knows, and can provide an overview on actions on that weekend from all over the world. The call is availabe at http://www.wri-irg.org/news/2003/reclaim.htm read full story / add a comment
