Some 45 police and medical staff are going on trial today accused of mistreating protesters that had been arrested and held at a camp near Genoa. this is the "Bolzaneto torture trial". On Friday, 28 officers will appear in court over a raid at a school which protesters were using as a dormitory. this is the follow up to the beginning of the court proceedings on April 6th 2005 which saw police first testify on May 4th http://www.indymedia.ie/newswire.php?story_id=69680 These cases focus more on the Diaz school incidents than Guiliani, but the whole thing comes together and indeed all these investigations and trials are concurrent now which heightens their contemporary political effect. Today thus marks "the next stage". read full story / add a comment

By now many of you will seen a copy of the two "free newspapers" launched this morning in Dubiln. & you will be aware of the court wranglings which led to the change of name of the Herald AM. "Metro" was originally launched 10 years ago, in Sweden but its name has been copied wherever people have underground trains. & in the case of Dublin - "double decker omnibuses". its main international rival "20 minutes" was launched in Switzerland and Germany in 1999. They dominate a global readership (concentrated in Europe) of 14.5 million commuters. And it is estimated produce 21million copies daily, and the advertising executives will tell you that means 2 readers for every copy. _______________________________________ read full story / add a comment

to special privileges!!! Like Stallions etc Ireland What about making those in control of government departs such as health, transport, education ....... an extract of criminally responsible for reckless or negligent behvaviour......This may enhance Corporate Governance, Accountability, Transparency. It is time to avoid tangents and focus on our Prisons, our Vulnerable people, a system of health similar to Europeans and lower wages and to ensure we do not stand away from the principles Of James Connolly and Jim Larkin. We have fought hard in Ireland for fair wages let us not discriminate now. Well done Joe Higgins going out to Turkey re. the Gama workers. Let us ask were low wages costed in to the construction contract!!!! What annoys me most in Ireland now - Committees and more committees followed by academic research, research and more research. The publications are beyond a joke now. Where is the committee on Common Sense? read full story / add a comment
