According to the Geneva Convention, any airline that is involved in transporting military equipment or troops is a legitimate target in wartime. This includes individual flights that are not carrying anything dodgy, airline offices, warehouses, etc. NATO used this to justify some of the bombings it carried out in Serbia and Kosovo in 1999. The Los Angeles Times supposedly published a front-page photograph showing a UK soldier directing civilians to sit. A sharp-eyed reader spotted some aberrations in the photograph and the URL above appears to show that The LA Times has published an editorial retraction of the photo after contacting the photographer who has admitted compositing the photo from two others. read full story / add a comment

Unfortunately i do not have great details on this just caught the end on the radio but i did hear him say that the Attack on Iraq is NOT a pre-emptive strike. In the papers 31 March By Sylvia Leatham Iona, SkillSoft (NASDAQ: SKIL - news) , ParthusCeva (NASDAQ: PCVA - news) face government questions on software supplied to US military The Irish Independent reports that SkillSoft, Iona Technologies (Dublin: IONA.I - news) and ParthusCeva have each received letters from the government seeking clarification as to which export licences they are using to supply software to the US military. Companies are required by law to have military or "dual use" licences from the government for the supply of military products. A spokeswoman for the Department of Enterprise, Trade and Employment confirmed that correspondence between it and the three companies is "ongoing". read full story / add a comment
