This report outlines how the currency wars now taking place represent another phase in the breakdown of the capitalist system.

Since the huge jolt to the capitalist system back in late 2008, nothing has been fixed and the internal contradictions and conflicts still exist and now the system stumbles forward into new crisis. As Leon Trotsky in the founding program of the Fourth International written in 1938: “The bourgeoisie itself,” he wrote, “sees no way out … it now toboggans with closed eyes toward an economic and military catastrophe.” read full story / add a comment

Among the taxation proposals being mooted by government for the next and subsequent budgets is an extension of tax to the lower paid. This is to be accompanied by continued draconian reductions in the provision of health, education and other services required by the population generally and particularly by the poor. Government cuts and impositions on the poor and those on middle incomes who spend most of their income in Ireland will flatten the economy and increase the disastrous levels of unemployment and emigration. read full story / add a comment

We'll be returning to Mayo on Saturday 16th October, to protest the Charles River laboratory in Ballina. We normally wouldn't protest the lab on a weekend, but we have reason to believe that there is more activity during these days than we had initially expected.

We haven't booked a mini-bus this time, and are relying on cars for transport. If you can offer lifts, please get in touch immediately! For those who cannot drive, book your place as soon as possible as seating will be limited.

The case can only be described as an attempt by British securocrats to put the Good Friday Agreement on trial through the Diplock Courts. Former Loyalist combatants have given evidence to this effect exposing the case as anti-peace process. They stated that the British government through Mo Mowlam gave a verbal guarantee on a number of occasions that no republican or loyalist would face legal proceedings for offences pre 1998.
