The Chinese government is suspected of being behind the recent “denial of service attacks” on the Marxist Internet Archive website . Brian Basgen who has worked on the site since 1990, says that ,since January , there have been hundreds of attacks ,99 percent of which emanate from China . As a consequence , the MIA may be forced to sacrifice its Chinese language material to keep the rest of the archive open . Although the attacks have only targeted Chinese files , security experts say that Chinese machines can be exploited by people outside the country, making the attacks appear to come from China . read full story / add a comment

Shell is sponsoring the National Theatre's new production of 'Oedipus',
and, unsurprisingly, Art Not Oil is preparing a response on various
fronts. We're asking people if they're up for making an artwork of some kind as
a response. This could be an image, song, film or poem to appear on our website, or
to be printed on a postcard or something similar. We're open to ideas. (Unfortunately, we aren't able to pay
for your work, but we have no wish to possess it!) read full story / add a comment
