The Irish Cabinet will decide in January on what type of press council Ireland should have. There will be a meeting on Thursday the 18th of December in Javas Coffee House on Abbeygate Street at 8pm to discuss the upcoming EU leaders meeting which will be held in Galway in mid-January.

We have an opportunity to show how we feel about the effects of neo-liberal policies and the direction of the EU, including the militarisation of the EU, racist immigration laws, fair trade issues, and privatisation of public services.

At the meeting on Thursday we hope to kick start the organising of any protests and other activities around these issues. read full story / add a comment

Afghanistan – American forces admit that fighter jets have bombed six more children

The US military has admitted that it has killed six more children at the weekend in an attack on ‘a compound used by a militant to store arms’ near Gardez in Paktia province. This is addition to the nine children killed by its fighter jets on Saturday. Children obviously continue to be a legitimate target for the US war machine. read full story / add a comment

Not being aware of any anarchist mailing list in Ireland concerned with
Prisoners, Prisons and related areas, Dublin Anarchist Prisoner Support has decided to try and
create some sort of place where information of this type can be
exchanged. It
has thus created the [email protected].
We see no reason to keep this disscusion limited to Political or Pow's
and
would encourage posting & debate about all categories of Prisoners and

Welcome to the Big Lie. Bertie Aherne is quoted in this morning's rag of unrecord (The Irish Independent Fri 12th Dec) as saying that the exclusion of Ireland from eligibility to bid for "Iraqi reconstruction contracts" is a sign that his "anti-war" policy has worked well. Yes, you heard him right: An Taoiseach is gloating over the fact that Irish companies are excluded. Let's do him a favour and assume that this is a cynical attempt to make a silk purse out of a sow's ear rather than genunine idiocy on his part. read full story / add a comment
