Having learned nothing from the apocalyptic consequences of the irresponsible, misguided and musical solo run of the GNAW action on Saturday, another group has foolishly decided to utilize a tactic which is not MASS MOBILISATION. Theatre splits the movement. read full story / add a comment

The day although slated for factionalism proved to be a show of solidarity and good sence. There were a couple of incidence where some over entuiastic protesters tried to break the Garda cordon but were imeadiatly surrounded by press photographers. The trip down from letterkenny was long but not as long as the same trip back. The IAWM and the GNAW are at eachothers throats, meanwhile the likes of the Labour Party, PANA etc are willing to accept a war if the UN Security Council does. The fact that a UN resolution won't stop bombs killing civilians doesn't seem to register. The media and government try to talk up a Red Menace, with the potential to infect decent law abiding citizens, who everyone admits are anti war but seemingly not anti-government. read full story / add a comment

On her way to NYC to meet Kofi Annan, Green MEP Patricia McKenna said today that members of the U.N. security council were being bullied and blackmailed by the U.S. into agreeing to a new U.N. resolution. She said that some of these countries are very vulnerable and that the U.S is putting pressure on them by offering certain things or by threatening certain actions against them. This is a welcome departure by the Greens from the F.F. -F.G.-Labour-Sinn-Fein line that backing by the security council makes the impending mass murder of 1000s of Iraqi civilians legitiimate and justified. read full story / add a comment

Well, heres my analysis, I feel that the small numbers that turned out for both demos in Shannon, prove that the GNAW are, at best premature in their actions, and at worst completely wrong in the belief that Direct Action is the way forward for the anti-war campaign. read full story / add a comment
