Calling Trump a dictator is just silly, says Prof James Allan. Yes, he's bombastic. But he's been elected to secure the border and drain the swamp. And he is the President, in whom all executive authority resides.

Eamonn McCann, on WBAI, said there were uncanny parallels between the British propaganda about Bloody Sunday and current attempts to demonize Iraqi resistance. Which is not surprising, said McCann, because the leader of the British forces, Mike Jackson, was an intelligence officer with the Parachute Regiment at the Bloody Sunday massacre. Blair was trying to show the 'uncivilized' nature of the Iraqis. And the claim that you can't distinguish between civilians and gunmen was made in Derry as it is in Basra. The British, said McCann, were attempting to demonize Iraqis for things they themselves had done over and over again. read full story / add a comment

On Radio Free Eireann, NYC, today, Bernadette Sands-McKevitt, sister of Bobby Sands, MP, appealed to civil libertarians to protest the mistreatment of her husband, Michael McKevitt, who is now in his third year on remand, charged with being the leader of the Real IRA. McKevitt is held in a cell with no sanitary facilities. The sole evidence against him comes from MI5 and FBI agent, Rupert, and the prosecution is withholding documents from the defense. McKevitt who has been seriously ill with pneumonia, goes on trial(non-jury) in June. The Ahern regime has collaborated fully with the Anglo-American intelligence services in this attempt to railroad McKevitt. read full story / add a comment

And so, without any level of legal justification, any pretence of popular support, and any sense of moral decency, the U.S. and its ever so ‘minor partner’, the U.K., have taken it upon themselves to escalate hostilities against Iraq; hostilities which have continued in the form of daily aerial attacks and murderous sanctions since the last days of Gulf War I. The fact that 42% of Iraq’s population are children is of no apparent interest to the hawks in the Whitehouse and Downing Street. read full story / add a comment

Coincidence or what! Friday: Someone bombs a market in Baghdad, 55 dead civilians. Iraqi TV shows the images. Friday night: US bombs Iraqi tv station, maybe it's a coincidence, maybe its to stop the images of civilian dead being shown. No more images of dead civilains on Iraqi tv. It will not stop the deaths, but hides them Sure, it's a war for democracy, we'll all be free to be killed. read full story / add a comment
