Calling Trump a dictator is just silly, says Prof James Allan. Yes, he's bombastic. But he's been elected to secure the border and drain the swamp. And he is the President, in whom all executive authority resides.

national / miscellaneous / news report Saturday August 24, 2002 20:15 by Silent O'Moyle
Ed Moloney, today on Wbai, NYC, denounced a smear by Niall O'Dowd, in the Smurfit-subsidized Irish Voice. O'Dowd claims that in a forthcoming book, Moloney asserts that Gerry Adams cooperated with the British to botch IRA operations and thus pave the way for the peace process. Moloney said that O'Dowd does not have the courage to publish the allegation in Ireland because he knows its libellous. Moloney also said that Sinn Fein's Rita O'Hare, in Nyc, denounces Moloney as an unreconstructed Provo, while in Belfast, Sinn Fein claims that Moloney is a stooge of MI5. O'Dowd, served as liaison between Adams and the U.S. Commander in Chief, Clinton, in the days leading up to the Ira's ceasefire. read full story / add a comment

“This is the second time a Chinese man has been killed in Dublin. I have friends who are abused in the street, many of them have been physically attacked and if they go to the Gardai there is no response or they are very slow. Other friends have had their windows broken by teenagers and been attacked. Many of the Chinese suffer this, and I think the Government are responsible for this, and especially the Garda authorities.” “Racism is getting worse. I have been working as a software engineer for a year, others I work with feel that the conditions in Dublin are getting worse.” Said Wan, who working in Ireland for a year as he took part the protest against a racist murder in Dublin. read full story / add a comment

hi, I know you guys work really hard and I realise this is a user run forum, which I try to contribute towards from my home in the UK, but the frontpage is always up for weeks and weeks on end. There are lots of new and more interesting stories which appear on the newswire but nobody ever updates it. I know you're gonna jump on me and say 'why don't you do it'?. I live in teh Uk and cannot but I don't honestly think it takes more than 15 mins to update the frontpage. This will make teh site look fresher and more happening. Perhaps your volunteers can rotate this job on a weekly basis or something? But keep up the great work otherwise!!! read full story / add a comment

Lots of conversations at Ecotopia about this. What does anybody think? UK Decentralisation is proving slow and difficult - I think this is because a sense of ownership was built up by the London Crew who originated it and this has caused problems. I would love to see Belfast, Limerick, Cork, Galway, Dublin IMC's all feeding into an Ireland one or even a UK and Ireland one. I am writing this to begin a public debate on the subject. Should we set up a dedicated list to discuss this. IMC Irl - which is really in all honesty a Dublin IMC is getting a bigger volume of features and newswire stuff suddenly and features are going late or unpublished due to the fact that it is voluntary and people can only afford so much time - decentralisation I think would give an incentive to more people to get involved without travelling read full story / add a comment
