The European Parliament today overwhelmingly approved the ratification of a new agreement on scientific and technical co-operation with Israel, a decision that was immediately condemned by the Ireland Palestine Solidarity Campaign. The DCC in association with the Cycle Campaign Network and the UK Cyclists Touring Club will host a conference on May 1st in Trinity College for cycle campaigners in Ireland and the UK. The conference will feature talks by members of various cycling campaigns in the UK and Ireland and also urban designer, Jan Gehl from Copenhagen. The weekend will include social events organised for the evening before, the Saturday night, and Sunday 2nd. The DCC have been invited to participate in this year's St. Patrick's Day Festival on Saturday 13th March. There will be a mass cycle ride along the quays meeting at Smithfield Market at1pm and heading along the north towards Talbot Bridge and coming back along the South Quays. Refreshments will be provided and the streets will be closed off so it'll be a rare opportunity to enjoy some car-free cycling in Dublin city centre. read full story / add a comment
