Howdy, my name is Frank Cordarro and I'm visiting Dublin to support the Pit Stop Ploughshares awating a retrial for their plowshares/disarmament action at Shannon Airport. The action was in Feb. 2003, their retrial is at Dublin's Four Courts Oct. 24th. 2005. I've just been released from county jail in Iowa for civil disobedience against the war on Iraq. I live in a CW community in Des Moines with homeless folks. Most of my nonviolent resistance which has lead to years in jail has been at Stracom/Omaha. Below is 1)a history of Stratcom & 2) nonviolent resistance to it. While in Dublin I'm hoping to meet with peace activists. Hope you can come to Wenesday's public meeting (Teachers Club 7.30pm), Thursday refelction (11 Talbot St.) or the Thursday night party. read full story / add a comment

Urbana Champaign are probably one of the best organised Indymedia collectives in the global network. They recently raised enough money to buy their own premises - a 30,000 square foot post office. One of their volunteers Sascha Meinrath is also the co-ordinator of the Champaign-Urbana Community Wireless Network. In this interview with Amy Goodman, Sascha explains what the project is about, how viable it is and the problems they've encountered with large telcos who are lobbying US government - and succeeding - to have a legislative monopoly on the provision of information networks. read full story / add a comment
