Venue & Date:
The 7th of May. Teachers Club, Parnell Square West, Dublin 1. From 10am to 5pm.

Arising from the EYFA/Gluaiseacht wintermeeting/antiwar meeting a fresh anti-war initiative has been founded.
Despite the continuation occupation and war, Anti-war activity in Ireland has declined steadily from the strong opposition of 2003/2004. The focus has been blurred and there is no network of activists to support each other and to keep the protests going. We feel the time has come to set up a network of activists who will pledge to take an active stand against the war machine in Ireland, i.e. direct involvement in war, weapons and components production or, as in Ireland’s case, offering the use of Shannon airport for the purposes of war and as a pit stop in the transportation of illegal detainees to be tortured at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. read full story / add a comment

This initiative will provide good quality information and support to victims of racist crime. It will contribute to a reduction of repeat incidents and encourage statutory agencies and local community residents to tackle perpetrators.

Readers will likely have heard the very sad story this week about conjoined ('Siamese') twins being born in Dublin. The poor kiddies were too ill to be separated and died within 24 hours of birth. Naturally parents very upset and issued a statement asking for prayers for their babies and begging for privacy from the media.

People will thus not be surprised to hear that the Irish Independent has at present (thursday lunchtime) several news teams prowling the outskirts of a Midlands town trying to find out more about the family. They actually have a name and address they are chasing up. So called 'journalists' from the Indo called at my cousins' house this morning only to be told the 'F8CK OFF' pretty sharpish.

What goes through the heads of these people at all? How can they sleep at night persecuting a family who have suffered such tragedy? read full story / add a comment
