A group of Mayo construction workers based in Waterford city have today rowed -in in support of their fellow county men currently incarcarated in Clover Hill prison. They have shown that they stand shoulder to shoulder with the men from north Mayo, by hoisting a banner in the colours of their county, from the mast of a huge tower crane overlooking Waterford city.It is their belief that the government of this country are duty bound to protect these men and indeed all the people of this Island, from those who would see us harm. read full story / add a comment

Más Ó nó Mac thú, in ainm Naomh Phádraig tabhair cabhair do Teamhar.

Tara was Ireland's capital. Fenians died there in 1798. Early Sinn Féin members including Artur Griffith saved it 100 years ago from the digging of the British Israelites. The coronations stone of sorts, the stone of Destiney Liafáil is there to this day.

What is Sinn Féin about if it isn't about protecting Ireland's most historic site, the hill and valley of Tara? It's about time the party repeated what its members did 100 years ago.

The Daily Ireland has already criticised Sinn Féin members for not doing more. Now is the the time to stop the history of Ireland's most important valley being dug up by 22 ton Excavators. Contact 44 to let them know that you support Saving the Tara Valley. read full story / add a comment

In the small rural town of Maleny , Queensland, Aus, where the Platypus swim, and Co-operative enterprise is at the second highest on the planet, the largest shareholder of the retail market, Woolworths, bulldozes it`s way into a community that opposes the development by 79%.
The developer with the aid of 160 police, began to excavate a site on a bend in Obi Obi creek, containing high populations of platypus.
Some are calling for a Boycott on Woolworths, or any of their companies due to this, and the undermining of fruit and vegetable growers by stocking imported goods instead.
This is a fine example of how Big Business gets a hand from the state. read full story / add a comment

It looks like tomorrow will mark a jump to an unprecedented (in the recent past) level of decentralised protest in Ireland. Some IMCers will be updating the site with any breaking news on the countrywide actions, pickets and white line pickets.

Sudan. Khartoum. Dharfour.
Condolence Rice is "trouble shooting" the region at the moment and had scheduled a visit to the refugee camps to monitor conditions there and in particular the conditions of women.

This morning at the press conference held with the President of Sudan and the US secretary for trouble shooting, Sudanese guards "man-handled" [sic] both the western journalists accompanying Miss Rice onboard her USAF jet but also members of her staff.

Miss Rice reboarded her jet, and at about 11h00GMT the schedule went wrong, demands for apologies were made, US network TV smarts from the injury to its dignity, and the women of Dharfour camp became less important.

Sudan has apologised. read full story / add a comment
