Vincent Browne's strange affliction with trying to find jusitifications for the likes of Charles Haughey and Bertie Ahern seems now to have infected recently appointed columnist Chekov Feeney - also a member of the Indymedia.ie editorial collective. Feeney's Newspaper Watch column has, while throwing a welcome spotlight on many examples of media bias and seeming self-censorship -and is apparently unique in Ireland in its objective - sometimes failed to deliver truly well aimed punches at obviously deserving targets. read full story / add a comment

In Harreveld youth prison in the Netherlands children are raped.
Inspection youthcare decided to investigate only after parents got this out in the news. They only decided that no new children should be put in this jail.
. It is not just children that did something wrong that are placed in jail in the Netherlands. BJZ a company that keeps children after they take them from their parents and that are paid by the government, also places children in jail because it is a cheap solution and their goal is to make as much monies out of children as possible. Judges in the Netherlands look away and allways decide in favour of bjz and children are thus used as tools to get monies. read full story / add a comment

Olin Eugene Armstrong, Jr., (June 5, 1953 - September 20, 2004) an American contractor working in Iraq for the construction firm Gulf Energy Company of the United Arab Emirates, was beheaded on September 20, 2004 by the Tawhid and Jihad, a militant group led by Abu Musab al-Zarqawi. Abu Musab al-Zarqawi is believed to have personally beheaded Armstrong. The following day, the group beheaded another hostage, American Jack Hensley, and threatened to kill their third hostage, Briton Kenneth Bigley, unless the United States met their demands to free all women prisoners in Iraqi jails.

Armstrong, also known by his nickname "Jack", grew up in the south-central Michigan community of Hillsdale, where he lived until 1990.

This is how he died on September 20, 2004
