Shannon airport and Irish airspace are being used on a daily basis by US warplanes, with the permission of the Irish Government, in contravention of international laws on neutrality, in spite of the Irish Governments claims that Ireland is still a neutral state. peg bar is a fun gathering of animators. The aim of this gathering is to bring animators and audience together to view each others work, chat and make new friends. This years peg bar affair will be held upstairs in Murrays Bar on O'Connell St., Dublin, on thursday 7th august at 7pm. At the venue there will be two projectors and a load of wide screens. A school of curious dolphins were attacked yesterday lunchtime by a vessel supporting Shell's offshore pipeline works in Broadhaven Bay at Glengad. The Niamh Aine - a pleasure boat hired to escort various work vessels around the area - drove across the path of two of the dolphins who were inspecting the Vlaanderen VII barge. read full story / add a comment

August 9 1971 was a pivotal date in Irish history. The introduction of internment exposed, yet again, the ugly face of British imperialism in Ireland and acted as a catalyst for increased resistance to the occupation.
