The above photographed men have tried and failed to talk themselves out of a corner in relation to domestic and foreign political scandal in the course of the last four years. Their leader, whom some refer to as the 'Teflon Taoiseach' is still at large. He is recognisable by his very sensible shoes and the reek of male cosmetic products. He is not considered dangerous at the present time. read full story / add a comment

Latest development for the troubled energy giant in what is rapidly becoming a year of bad news is that the Nigerian election may be fought on plans to nationalise the country's natural resources. It seems to be an emerging pattern that as energy becomes scarce, states don't like the idea of their oil and gas being sold or (in some cases) given away to transnational companies like Shell. It seems unlikely, but who knows what is going to happen, maybe the general election in Ireland will be fought on similar issues. On a day when the minister for justice is moaning about the cost of tribunals, and asking why the money spent there can't be used for parts of the economy which are underfunded like the Health Service, perhaps some smart candidate will start to question why the 51 Billion euro that the Corrib and associated fields are worth could not be used to fund something useful for the Irish economy. Maybe even a tribunal of inquiry into the giveaway itself. read full story / add a comment

http://www.justice.ie has details of a new 'Counter Gangland Crime Law' published 'draft legislation' which means he thinks he's coming back, or the guillotine will be used. The Guillotine is a handy little device which the FF/PD administration has been using for many years, in which full debate is disallowed ,to shove everything through in time for 'snap' elections- of which there are few, or recesses (of which there are many). read full story / add a comment
