The number of American soldiers to have died in the war in Iraq has now hit 2,000. It is reported that more than 1,500 events have been held across the United States (united by what? we might ask). The 2,000th soldier to have died is Staff Sergeant George Alexander, who died in hospital from wounds from a bomb attack. read full story / add a comment

The following ministerial announcement appeared recently in the newspapers (February 2005) : ‘Mr John Browne TD, Minister of State at the Department of Agriculture and Food with responsibility for Forestry, announced that the Forest Service of his Department has issued a call for proposals from interested parties relating to the promotion and development of sustainable forestry.
