Monday night saw another picket of the Dublin corporation council meeting to protest the continuing attempt to impose bin charges on the cities population. Meanwhile the council has issued the first summons against non payers (4 from Fingals have been summonsed). In today's issue a letter to the Heads of State now arriving at the Earth Summit charges that so far negotiatiors have merely found new, creative ways of expressing agreement already reached elsewhere. However, unlike the negotiators the Heads of State are not anonymous. Their names will be associated with this agreement and history will judge them harshly if it fails or proves ineffective. In the early hours of Saturday morning activists occupied the archaeological site of Carrickmines Castle in a non-violent direction that could rival the Glen of the Downs protest.
