The armed power of the Irish state and the local establishment extended a heavily stage-managed and trumped-up 'welcome' for the reigning British monarch, while denying Cork citizens freedom of movement in their own city. Once again An Garda Síochána infringed upon people's freedom of protest. read full story / add a comment

21 May · 12:00 - 17:00 Location: Grand Parade, Cork City Centre Spain is currently delivering a massive protest in order to demand a true Democracy now! We would like to meet up in the city centre of Cork on Saturday morning to give them our support and spread the word in everywhere. Please, collaborate if you feel committed with the cause and tell the Spanish Government and the Spanish Parties that we really want a True Democracy instead of the two-party system we have. There's a system fail...ure and people should be before the markets, speculators, bankers and politicians. Join us and demand the same in Ireland. We have a common cause. We would need people available to participate with the organization. FB event at https://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=211967275501008 read full story / add a comment

Hello there, I think you might be interested to read about this, and if you support the cause that is moving the whole Spanish people to protest and demand a true democracy, you might want to publish it in your blog and spread the word. Please have a look at this video to know what´s going on: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RZ55PC-ElSE This is a post from an English blogger living in Spain: http://blogs.elpais.com/trans-iberian/2011/05/spain-get....html And here is the manifesto that we are supporting, and also the date and time of the demonstration that we are planning in Dublin (there is another one in Cork as well) https://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=202503726457580 (presently 493 attendees on the FB page) Thank you in advance and I hope you can help us! May our example drives other countries to fight for what is ours, a true democracy, without having to pay for the crisis they have created. read full story / add a comment

In response to Shell's AGM today in The Hague and London, the Shell to Sea campaign have shut down the Belmullet Shell office in protest against the on-going controversial Corrib Gas project which has no local consent or benefit to the people of Ireland. Shell will attempt to begin construction on the high pressure raw gas pipeline shortly despite a legal challenge by An Taisce and two local residents. This protest is also to highlight the fact that every hour Shell accumulates another £1.6 million pounds sterling ( 1.83 million Euro) by destroying communities across the globe, from the Niger Delta to the Canadian Tar Sands. Shell's appalling record of human rights abuses, oil spills, gas flaring and accidents forces people to protect their communities and their environment. We call on all shareholders to disinvest. read full story / add a comment
