Limerick’s communities call for all-party support and put 3-week deadline for step 1 of regeneration

The five area-based Community Development Projects in Limerick City have called for all-party support for John Fitzgerald’s recommendations for improving life for people in the city’s disadvantaged communities. Volunteers and workers from the five Community Development Projects also want the Government – before the Dail dissolves in three weeks or so – to set up the proposed Regeneration Boards on a statutory basis. They held a press conference in Limerick city centre today to press home their message. read full story / add a comment

The Annual 1916 Easter Commemoration in Cork took place on Easter Sunday April 8th. Year on year the numbers attending grow and this year was no exception. Assembly took place at the Wilton Roundabout at 2.30pm. The parade then proceeded to the Republican Plot, Saint Finbarr's Cemetery lead by a Colour party from Sinn Féin (Poblachtach) – Cork, followed a number of pipers of the ex-Cork Volunteer Pipe Band, Cumann na mBan and a large contingent of the public embracing all age groups. read full story / add a comment

A new ‘probability-based’ report, prepared for England’s Ministry of Defence by Rear Admiral Chris Parry, warns of the dangers to political stability which may present themselves during the 2030s. There are over one hundred women missing in Ireland. They are presumed dead. It is fourteen years since Annie Mc Carrick Vanished. There is no longer an operational website for families of vanished children, parents, sisters and brothers, to use. ON this the 91st anniversary of the 1916 Proclamation of the Irish Republic, the Leadership of the Republican Movement sends greetings to members, supporters and friends throughout the world. We send a special greeting to our imprisoned comrades in Portlaoise and Maghaberry, Co Antrim and applaud the continual prison protest in Maghaberry which has been ongoing since last June. On this note we would like to extend our appreciation to the Republican Prisoners Action Group who have organised and promoted the outside activity in support of the protesting prisoners.
