We refer to the risk to young schoolchildren and adults that occurred today in Co Meath as covered by the Joe Duffy Show (Liveline) today . The major incident occurred when a Stag ran riot into a school yard whilst being chased by houndsand huntsmen belonging to the Ward Union Hunt Club. ‘ This animal later dropped dead from the stress and injuries sustained in the days hunting’.according to accounts on the programme.’ [ed note by 1 of indymedia. This evening I was listening to Minister Michael McDowell on Radio 1 at 5 O'Clock in relation to the murder of the young innocent man last night. This 'Dying Wasp' has an amazing lifespan. McDowell spoke of a research committee on how to tackle organised crime. In considering the recent revelations about Mark Haddock’s UVF career at tax payer’s expense, as a killer informant for the RUC, let us not forget Ian Paisley. Last week the Historical Enquiries Team of the PSNI was forced to apologise to Eugene Reavey for the RUC whispering campaign that tried to justify the sectarian shooting of Reavey’s three brothers in January 1976 in Whitecross, south Armagh. The shootings happened the day before the Kingsmill massacre of 10 Protestant civilians on January 5 1976, in the same general area. Three members of the O’Dowd family were also shot dead by the UVF the previous day. The Reavey and O’Dowd killings happened within 30 minutes of each other. read full story / add a comment

Campaigners were out in full force from 6am this morning outside Shell’s proposed refinery site at Bellanaboy. As the convoy of jeeps buses and trucks pulled into the site at half seven the dawn had not yet broken over the bogs of Erris. Protesters stood holding placards and shouting slogans at the vehicles flanked by Gardaí drove in the site’s shiny metal gates. read full story / add a comment
