Anti-war protestors will be demonstrating in Castletownbere today against the presence in the harbour of a US Navy destroyer. The USS Sullivan is the centrepiece of a US Navy propaganda exercise intended to strengthen military links with Ireland (the ship is in West Cork as part of a commemorative event for five men killed during a Second World War naval battle in the pacific). They spent a lot of time talking about the history of the ship's name, but didn't seem to bother for a [moment] to speak about what this particular warship on our shores has been doing.
