Please print AFAR's poster calling on all voters to make use of their vote to keep Fine Gael out of power.

The majority of normal people do not want Stag hunting legalised again, even if the ban is not being enforced.

Place this poster in a prominent place to let people know how cruel they intend to be , that is if they get into Government.
They want STAG-HUNTING back!!! Its really unbelieveable. read full story / add a comment

The Israeli-Palestinian conflict is often described as unique and exceptional with little resemblance to other historical or ongoing colonial conflicts. Yet, for Zionism, like other settler colonial projects such as the British colonization of Ireland or European settlement of North America, South Africa or Australia, the imperative is to control the land and its resources -- and to displace the original inhabitants. read full story / add a comment

With the election coming up many people are planning to firmly boot Fianna Failure out and there is strong indications that people are not happy with any of the main parties. Therefore we should see the smaller parties and the independents having a real chance. But do they or can this unravel because of the way we pick our preference votes? read full story / add a comment

The decision by the outgoing Fianna Fáil government to reverse Ireland's policy on genetically modified (GM) food has been described as both dangerous and foolhardy by a leading Irish NGO. Speaking on behalf of Afri, Clare O’Grady Walshe, who has lectured on food politics and was a member of the Green Energy Task Force in 2009, described the government decision to no longer abstain in EU debates on GM food as having enormous implications for Irish people and the environment. read full story / add a comment

Dan Boyle, formerly Bertie Ahern's choice for senator, is running for election in Cork South Central once again. This means he has to present a justification of his and his party's record as part of this government we've suffered for getting on four years. One of the ways he has been doing this is through his election literature, some of which I received in the post only this morning. After reading it, I must say I was surprised at the level of grandiose self-delusion on display in this leaflet! read full story / add a comment

A very timely and useful analysis of how Sinn Fein policy has moved significantly to
the right in relation to the EU has appeared in the current edition of the Socialist Voice. It looks at how the party is now heading towards the right on the EU and that drift to the right is not an accident and will not end there. This has implications for republicans and socialists in this country and for all Irish people especially with the projected increases in SF support in the national elections next week.

Channel 4’s Dispatches: Lessons in Hate and Violence on Islamic schools in Britain confirms the urgency of addressing the question of faith schools. Whilst the teachings of hatred in these schools are not surprising, it is nothing short of scandalous that vulnerable children are left to the mercy of Islamists despite years of evidence of abuse and violations of child safety and protection rules. read full story / add a comment

SIPTU members at the Davenport Hotel in Dublin mounted pickets this morning after being taken off the roster for refusing to sign new contracts reducing their national minimum wage rate by almost €1 an hour. When the legislation was being passed, the Minister for Finance, Brian Lenihan, gave assurances that existing employees of companies on €8.65 an hour could not have it reduced without their consent. However, the workers concerned, all women from Eastern Europe, have been brought into three meetings over the past three weeks and repeatedly told they must sign the new contracts or face being taken off the roster. They were not given a copy of the new contract, either in English or in their own languages.
