Michael Mc Dowell, being back in the High Court defending the Rights of the Father is awaiting judgement of the Mr 'G' case, in which a father has applied for return of his kids from another jurisdiction (UK) and the right to be a father and to educate his children. Another recent High Court case is being prepared to go to the Supreme Court regarding the rights of a woman to use the eggs she is storing and to have the dad pay for the future life and education of any child conceived as result of the process- the father won citing the end of the marriage and irreconcilable difference. She is appealing. Both cases involve:- Father's Rights to family and both are read for and judged within the confines of the Catholic Constitution drafted by De Valera and of course substanially amended by Archbishop Mc Quaid. Cork S2S activists and supporters will be travelling to Mayo this Friday to take part in the National Day of Protest called by the community campaign in Erris. Once again, Shell to Sea campaigners and supporters will be showing solidarity with and lending their numbers to the ongoing protest by the local community. For seven years now concerned local citizens have opposed the unsafe and unprecedented Corrib Gas project, and they have had the broad support of the community for most of this time. Excepting those few individuals whose business interests have been co-opted by Shell et al, the community’s support for the Shell to Sea campaign endures, and has even deepened. read full story / add a comment

From June to mid-August, postal workers in the North and in Britain were taking industrial action. Management are on the offensive, and the action was to protect existing conditions. In a display of cross-border common purpose An Post bosses are also having a go, with conditions under attack as a prelude to selling off parts of the service to private companies. George Bush has now departed on Air Force 1, another plane carrying 600 security and staffers, another plane carrying 10 bomb proof limos and also Doomsday Plane with 100 military ready to fight a nuclear war have gone. The emperor was in town, the paradigm has shifted in terms of what Australians are willing to live with in terms of the shrinking of civil liberties. read full story / add a comment |
