Anti Bin Tax Protest will take place this Monday 1st September at 6.30pm outside City Hall, Dame Street. The protest is in response to the City Managers attempt to intimidate those who have refused to pay the charges. A huge volume of letters has been sent over the last number of weeks threatening court action and non-collection of household waste. Turn up and show your opposition. Anti-war protestors will be demonstrating in Castletownbere today against the presence in the harbour of a US Navy destroyer. The USS Sullivan is the centrepiece of a US Navy propaganda exercise intended to strengthen military links with Ireland (the ship is in West Cork as part of a commemorative event for five men killed during a Second World War naval battle in the pacific). The anti-war protestors believe the event is nothing less than a cynical stunt intended to further integrate Ireland into the US war machine. read full story / add a comment |
