A public meeting will be held in response to the latest allocation of exploration licenses in the Donegal, Slyne and Erris Basins. Donegal citizens are angry that licenses for their offshore natural resources have been given to multinational companies without any consultation and with very little benefit for the County. On Sept. 1st, a lewd comment was left on www.Rate-Your-Solicitor.com about a Dublin based barrister, Jayne Maguire, who rang John Gill, P.R.O. of the Victims of the Legal Profession, to ask him to remove the comment. She explained to him that a male colleague had left this comment about her. When John said that he had no control over the website, Ms Maguire initiated a defamation suit against John through McCann FitzGerald Solicitors, who told John he may face imprisonment if he does not have the offensive material removed as per a High Court injunction issued by Judge Michael Hanna. read full story / add a comment

This is a call out from Shell to Sea in Rossport. It is expected that Shell, with assistence from the cops, will attempt to forcibly start work in the next few days. 100-200 cops are reported to have been drafted into the area for up to one month.

A white-line picket was held in Newtownbutler, Co. Fermanagh, on Saturday, 23rd September. The picket was organised by the Republican Prisoners’ Action Group (RPAG), and was in support of the demands of the POWs currently on protest in Maghaberry Gaol. In spite of adverse weather conditions a large crowd turned out to demonstrate their support for the prisoners' demands.

The Alliance for Animal Rights (AFAR) are accusing Estee Lauder's Crème de la Mer and Aer Rianta Retail of gross cruelty, repedative neglect and negligence to Seahorses and their young over the past year in Dublin Airport.

The Animal Rights group and other welfare groups were alerted to the situation when dead seahorses were seen in the tank at departures in Dublin Airport. Staff at the Airport and travellers using the route to Departures contacted the group.
