NCAD Thomas Street, 7pm, Friday 22nd March Globalise Resistance heads will be building a huge Bush Monster for three upcoming events- the national Anti War demo on April 27th, the Trade Union march on May 1st and the Reclaim the Streets Party on the May 6th Bank Holiday. The Bush Monster will have two claws- the invisible hand of the market pulled by sweatshop slaves and workers in chains, and the iron fist of the military pulled by orange boiler suited, sensory deprived prisoners, Palestinians and the war dead. These packhorses will be supervised by the military wing of the United Corporations of America, who will carry the flag of the multinationals either side. ... read full story / add a comment

The murder of negotiator Marco Biagi in Italy - which is being blamed on the reconstituted 'Red Brigades' seems almost too good to be true for Berlusconi who is facing the prospect of an imminent general strike. It gives him an excuse to continue his repression of the radical left in Italy. He has already called for the planned general strike to be called off. The media in general in the west is completely ignoring the well documented history of state and right wing involvement in terrorism in post-war Italy. A shadowy group called P2 was behind a large percentage of terrorist incidents in that period - incidents which were blamed on the left and used to criminalise and repress very strong left wing movements in the state. Could this be happening again? The question needs to be asked. Why? Berlusconi was a member of P2. ... read full story / add a comment

Israelis are killed every day now, while one of the world's strongest armies is bravely proving it can turn even wretched refugee camps into ashes, I feel rather uncomfortable talking about ideology. Still, I'll do it. In a previous column I analysed several arguments of the right-wing ideology of Israeli occupation: a rather simple task, actually. More difficult, and more interesting, is the question: how do parts of the Israeli progressive camp live with the Occupation? ... read full story / add a comment

Unfortunately, its with very great sadness that I have the sad but not unexpected news that the Irish Secretary of the Amalgamated Transport and General Workers Union (ATGWU)- Mick O'Reilly and his Deputy have been officially fired by Bill Morris, General Secretary of the ATGWU's parent Union in Britain - the Transport and General Workers Union (TGWU).
