Is Rishi Sunak English? Prof Eric Kaufmann says yes, by nationality, but not by ethnicity. It's a subject that typically produces more heat than light, but that's because people don't pin down their terms.

In a shock announcement today the IAWM admitted that it had secret plans for direct action at Shannon. At least that is the only possible reading that our sources can take from the fact that they are claiming the withdrawal of two troop carrying services (citing security concerns) from Shannon as "a massive victory for the Irish Anti War Movement". ... read full story / add a comment

Speakers at the conference will deal with issues ranging from the interrelation of poverty with crime and educational disadvantage to the plight of travellers and refugees and the ideological content and function of law in modern bourgeois democracy. This conference will be of particular interest to those within Irish society concerned with tackling the cancer of social exclusion, so every organization and party should make an effort to be in attendance. After a successful meeting this Monday we have called for a regular 4.30pm picket at Shaftesbury Square every Friday until the bombing/war starts. This is a crucial traffic junction in Belfast. We call on all anti-war groups to do something similar across Belfast (& Ireland). Imagine if we timed these events weekly with a different angle each week - die in , pot&pan bash, soap-box ... whatever. In solidarity against the war South Belfast STW coalition ... read full story / add a comment
